Choosing the right eyeshadow for your eye colour

You may think that anyone can wear every colour eyeshadow but this is not the case! There is actually science behind which shade is best suited for your eye colour and will make them POP! When you look at a colour wheel, you want to wear colours that are on the opposite spectrum of your eye colour.

IF YOU HAVE BROWN EYES

Lucky you if you have brown eyes! They’re the most versatile colour meaning you have any choices. A bold blue, like Blue Moon from our Sinopia Palette, will ensure your eyes will pop. Or a green shade will bring out any flecks in your brown eyes. Plums, navy and browns will also suit you.

IF YOU HAVE BLACK EYES

Black eyes are best suited to cool dark brown shades, charcoal and black hues. If you have darker skin then bright colours will also look AMAZING on you. Other options are blue, plum, bronze or copper shades like Brick, Currant and Cinnamon from our Sinopia Palette. If you’re Asian with pale skin then pastels shades will be your friend as well as browns, navy and plums. Our Treasure Chest Palette is your go-to.

IF YOU HAVE BLUE EYES

Because blue eyes are a cool tone, you should reach for the opposite shades which are warm tones. Wear earthy tones, slate greys, golds, taupes and natural shades. If you want a brighter look, then use pink shades like Amethyst from our Treasure Chest palette. Silver and whites should only be used as a highlight and blue should be avoided completely because it will dull your eyes.

IF YOU HAVE GREEN EYES

Choose warm shades such as burgundy, orange, rust, bronze or violet. Even green, gold and copper shades would work well! Because your eyes are already bright, it’s best to avoid vivid colours to enhance them. And avoid cool blue shades as they will wash you out.

IF YOU HAVE HAZEL EYES

You lucky thing! Those with hazel eyes really have the best of both worlds with green and brown. You can wear golden and moss greens, plums and purple toned blues. If you’re wanting to bring out the golden tones use makeup with golden undertones as this will make them sparkle.

IF YOU HAVE GREY EYES

They're one of the rarest eye colours and there are so many ways that you can accentuate them so the best shades are smoky shades to bring out any green, brown or blue undertones. The shades Smokey Quartz, Onyx and Rhodonite from our Treasure Chest palette are perfect options.
