Last Minute Festival Makeup Inspiration
Posted on April 10 2019
It’s Festival SEASON! And it’s time to break out all the bright, bold and edgy makeup hiding at the bottom of your makeup bag and let your alter ego free and inner wild-child out.
The key to rocking a festival look is to pick one or two elements, like eyes and lips, or lips and cheeks, and make them the focal point of your look. Once you’ve picked your focus area/s, it’s time to let loose.
All the Colours of the Rainbow
One of the best ways to incorporate colour into your festival makeup is to coordinate the colour to another element of your outfit. For instance, if your hair is Blue then why not add a pop of blue to your eyes? If you are going for a blue look, nothing says Festival Glam like the shade ‘Blue Moon’ from Mellow's Sinopia Palette.
Another fun way to play with colour is colour blocking. Add a lid one shade to you lid and another to your lower waterline. From the Sinopia Eyeshadow Palette, you could try the shade ‘Brick’ for your lid and then apply the shade ‘Blue Moon’ to your waterline. If you’re ever unsure about which two colours go well together, you can always use opposite colours from the colour wheel as these colours are made to complement each other.
All about the Lips
If colour’s your vibe you can’t forget to add some to your lips of course! Match your eyeshadow to your lip colour. For vibrant festival lips, we suggest our Creamy Matte Lipsticks in the shades Candy Floss, Electro and Danger Zone. Or our Liquid Lip Paints in the shades Barcelona, London and Mykonos.
Side note, have you thought about making a statement with colourful cheeks? Pop some blush on your cheeks and accentuate a touch of glitter ta-da your party ready. Mellow’s Powder Blushes in the shades Pink and Peach will have you glowing!
Understandably not everybody is all about colour, and that’s okay we got you. You can always go for a more mature, but still fun and edgy look by combining a darker lip with a metallic eye. Think our Liquid Lip Paint in the shades Tokyo or New York, OR our Creamy Matte Lipstick in the shade Chocolate. Pair this with our Baked Eyeshadow in the, aptly named, shade Metallica, and you have yourself a look.
Keep it Simple
If you’re not quite ready to push your makeup limits too far, then you can always keep it simple with a rose gold eye and a soft pink Lip. Mellow’s Treasure Chest Palette has an array of beautiful gold hues for you to play around with including the shades ‘Rose Gold’, ‘Amber’ and ‘Smoked Topaz’. For a soft Pink Lip, you could either pair our Gel Lip Pencil in the shade Ava with our Creamy Matte Lipstick in the shade Nude or Mellow’s Liquid Lip Paint in the shade Milan. How simple is that? Add some gems or a touch of glitter and you’re all set. Remember, if in doubt, glitter is always a good idea!
